This is deadline week for me with my narration of the Audiobook Firestorm and I've taken a few steps to make it all better.   I find that what gives me the most stress about my voice over journey so far is the technical aspect of having a good space to record in but even more, how to overcome the near state of ignorance I had to the art of sound engineering.

I've only been working with ACX so far and it has been great experience but it's taken some leaps of faith to actually get it done.  Here is what I've done:

I had the opportunity to upgrade my Bluetooth keyboard as well.  I plan to add a monitor to that so I can work on and off the laptop.

I also have a new 9' Ipad Pro which I use now just to deal with scripts but I hope at some point to be able to control my DAW from there.  I'm also going to buy the pen to use with it in the next month or so.

I went on a DAW discovery journey because I knew I was coming to a point that I wanted more automation that Audacity offered and tried Reaper first.  Mike Delgadio had some really awesome tutorials for that and I just liked him so much that I tried it.  It was just too intense for me at this point and also I needed something I could jump into faster.  My next choice after listening to Georg and Dan at the VOBS was Twisted Wave.  So, I jumped into it in the middle of my current audiobook Project, Firestorm, by Kyra Dune.

All that new equipment and a new DAW at the same time nearly sank me but I have persevered.  My next step was to hire George Whittam to create some audiobook production stacks for me which he has done.  I am so proud to say that from his tutorial, I figured out how to get them installed and are using them as we speak to master the final edited chapters of the book and MOST importantly, the sample that will go on Audible for the book and will represent my own work.

Whew.... LOTS of work going on there but at the same time, I'm blue because this project is over.  It's time for me to turn to figuring out how to get a DEMO done so I can start looking for work and I need to move toward doing some work with narration of e learning and corporate videos, telephony.

Onward and upward...

Here is how to find George... He is the BEST!
